ESG, Energy Transition and Sustainable Finance: Jagiellonian University Students Explore Luxembourg’s Green Economy with LPCC

The Luxembourg-Poland Chamber of Commerce (LPCC) successfully hosted a study visit for 21 Master’s students from the Jagiellonian University in Kraków (UJ) from 21 to 23 April 2026. The visit was organised as part of the “Leader of International Cooperation for the Green Transition” programme run by the Institute of Political Science and International Relations and offered participants direct engagement with Luxembourg’s green economy – its regulatory frameworks, sustainable finance ecosystem, and the companies driving the energy transition at the European level.

ESG Regulation, Sustainable Finance and Energy Transition in Practice

Over the course of three intensive days in Luxembourg (21–23 April), students engaged in sessions covering ESG regulatory compliance, sustainable finance instruments, corporate sustainability strategies, and innovation in energy systems and urban development. The programme was designed to give future leaders in international cooperation a concrete understanding of how the green transition is being implemented, at the level of policy, business and infrastructure, in one of Europe’s most active sustainable finance hubs.

Programme Highlights

Day 1 – LPCC & House of Sustainability (21 April)

The visit opened at the Chamber of Commerce Training Centre with an introduction to LPCC’s mission and its role in fostering Luxembourg–Poland cooperation, delivered by Artur Sosna and Marta Andrzejewska of LPCC.

This was followed by three sessions with representatives of the House of Sustainability: Thibaud Bastien presented the organisation’s role in supporting companies on their sustainability journey, Juliette Petit outlined the ESG regulatory landscape and available implementation tools, and Lorenzo Baldini covered the financial instruments and support schemes available for sustainability-related investments.

The day concluded with a business case presented by Krystian Gajda of Voltmax Sàrl, focusing on photovoltaic systems, energy storage solutions, and advisory support for companies implementing sustainable energy strategies.

Day 2 – PwC Luxembourg & Encevo Group (22 April)

Students visited PwC Luxembourg for a strategic overview of sustainability integration in professional services and a case-based session on real-life ESG projects.

In the afternoon, the group travelled to Esch-sur-Alzette to meet the Encevo Group, where Michael Tomaszewski presented the company’s energy solutions for a resilient and sustainable future, followed by Michel Decker of Creos – Encevo’s grid subsidiary – who shared the final results of the Creos Living Lab, a practical demonstration of smart grid innovation.

Day 3 – Agora Belval (23 April)

The final day took participants to the AGORA S.à r.l. project in Esch-sur-Alzette – a flagship example of urban regeneration transforming a former industrial steel site into a sustainable mixed-use district combining research, business, education and residential functions.

Following presentations on brownfield regeneration, energy transition and public-private cooperation in sustainable urban planning, students took part in a guided on-site visit of Belval to see the project’s implementation firsthand.

Looking Ahead

This study visit marks another step in LPCC’s ongoing effort to build structured pathways between the Polish academic community and Luxembourg’s business ecosystem. Founded to promote bilateral cooperation between the two countries, LPCC works with member companies and institutional partners to create concrete opportunities – for knowledge exchange, professional development, and long-term collaboration.

The partnership with the Jagiellonian University’s Institute of Political Science and International Relations reflects a shared recognition that the green transition requires not only policy frameworks and capital, but people equipped to operate across borders and sectors. LPCC intends to develop further programmes of this kind, expanding access for young professionals and students from both countries.
