Employment & Commercial Law Workshop for Women Entrepreneurs in Luxembourg – Build a Legally Strong Business
Starting a business in Luxembourg comes with many responsibilities – some exciting, others a bit daunting. Topics like how to hire employees in Luxembourg, employment regulations, and commercial law tend to fall into the second category.
Most founders don’t go into business thinking about contract clauses or social security rules. But once you’re setting up or growing your company, legal obligations for entrepreneurs quickly become part of your day-to-day. Whether you’re preparing to bring someone on board or navigating leave policies and visa paperwork, knowing how to hire employees in Luxembourg is crucial. One mistake can lead to expensive and stressful consequences.
To help you stay on top of it all, EWP 2025 is hosting a dedicated Employment & Commercial Law workshop, led by Pauline Wirtzler, Avocat à la Cour and Counsel at BSP.
And here’s something else worth knowing—BSP is also one of EWP’s sponsors this year, helping fund the financial prizes awarded to participants with the best business ideas at the end of the programme.
Why This Matters
Luxembourg is full of opportunities, but understanding employment law in Luxembourg can feel like walking through a legal maze. We’ve seen many entrepreneurs struggle with:
- Not knowing what must be included in an employment contract
- Being unsure of how to handle terminations or sick leave
- Confusion around social security obligations or employee rights
- Falling into grey zones with commercial practices or advertising rules
- Getting stuck when trying to hire international staff
Pauline’s workshop will walk you through the key rules, explain what to look out for, and help you feel more confident in making legal decisions as a business owner.
Meet Your Expert Trainer: Pauline Wirtzler

Pauline Wirtzler, Counsel at BSP, is a trusted legal expert in employment law, commercial practice, and litigation. Admitted to the Luxembourg Bar in 2019, she holds a postgraduate degree in Litigation Law (University of Strasbourg) and a Master’s in Civil Law and Procedures (University of Metz).
She works daily with international clients on everything from HR policies to complex legal disputes, and she’s known for her down-to-earth, solution-focused approach. She’s also a member of the International Bar Association and fluent in both English and French.
“Legal clarity empowers businesses to thrive. My goal is to simplify complex regulations and provide actionable strategies for success,” says Pauline.
What You’ll Learn at the Workshop
This workshop is part of the 12th edition of the Entrepreneurial Woman Project and focuses on what actually matters to business owners—not what you’d learn in law school.
Here’s what Pauline will cover:
- Employment basics: How to hire legally, what must be in your contracts, how to apply working time and leave policies (maternity, parental, sick leave), and how to properly end an employment relationship.
- HR and social security: What to expect when it comes to payroll, disputes, collective redundancies, or restructuring.
- Commercial law: Understand how commercial obligations apply to your business, what’s allowed in marketing and advertising, and how to stay on the right side of the law.
- International hiring: Tips and legal pointers for hiring non-EU staff and navigating visa or work permit processes.
- Practical tools: Templates, checklists, and guidance that you can apply to your business right away.
This session is interactive, with space for questions and real-world scenarios.
