Private Debt: Trends, Opportunities, and Market Insights

Private Debt: Trends, Opportunities, and Market Insights

On 24 April 2025, industry leaders and financial experts gathered for an engaging conference focused on the evolving landscape of private debt in Poland. The event was organized by LPCC, hosted by Elvinger Hoss Prussen, and included 3 speakers – Thibaut Partsch (EHP), Vanessa Vandaele (Deloitte), and Ian Kent (Langham Hall).  The event featured insightful panel discussions, networking opportunities, and keynote presentations from key figures in the sector.

Attendees explored the early-stage development of the private debt in Poland, in particular the data illustrating that between 2015 and 2024, only 53 private debt deals where done in Poland, in compare to 255 in France or 698 in Germany. It was noted that the Polish economy is driven by a very active SME sector, and therefore the traditional bank financing does not seem to fit for their needs. The demand for alternative financing solutions increases, with the data showing strong opportunity for growth of the private debt market in Poland, with an optimistic scenario of showing increasing private debt financing volume from PLN 2.6bn to up to PLN 16.9 bn by 2030. The experts noticed that the private debt industry in Poland concentrates in 53% around the IT and healthcare sectors.

The event highlighted Luxembourg as preferred jurisdiction for private debt funds, looking to raise capital in the best price-to-quality manner, with the comprehensive and flexible “toolbox” of fund structures, and tax structuring options. The panelists discussed in particular SCSp AIF and SCA RAIF as two most common and most efficient structures, and shared best practices from the operational angle and day-to-day lifecycle of a private debt fund.
