Onboarding a Host AIFM: Setting the Foundations for a Successful Long-Term Partnership
Laying the groundwork before onboarding a host AIFM is critical to building a successful partnership. As a key partner, the host AIFM supports the manager throughout fundraising and the fund’s investment period. Selecting the right provider and establishing a clear operating framework are therefore paramount. Michal Krawczyk serves as Group Tax Director, overseeing all tax-related matters across the Kulczyk Investments Group. He has over 20 years of experience in international taxation, with a strong focus on both the Luxembourg and Polish markets. Prior to joining the KI Group, Michal advised corporate and non-corporate clients on a broad range of tax issues, dedicating big part of last 14 years to Luxembourg’s private equity and investment fund sectors.
Maciej Waloszyk, Founder of Cascade, an award-winning end-to-end AML KYC platform, has been actively involved in the Luxembourgish investment fund industry for more than 15 years, holding executive positions and serving as a CSSF-authorized director at both Management Companies (ManCos) and Alternative Investment Fund Managers (AIFMs). Urszula Budzinska is a Director of Client Relationship Management at Waystone, with 14 years of senior experience across onboarding, fund structuring, regulatory governance, and institutional client leadership. She works closely with boards, regulators, and global service providers on UCITS and AIF platforms, overseeing complex fund lifecycles. Her perspective bridges technical depth with strategic oversight, focusing on governance, operational resilience, and effective decision-making at board level.
Frank van Kuijk is a Partner in the firm’s Investment Management group at Loyens & Loeff. He leads the way we offer tailored legal solutions to US, Canadian, and other global asset managers for their European fund-raising strategies through Luxembourg structures, as well as for their EU-based acquisitions. Frank brings deep insight into EU regulatory and tax frameworks across all stages of a fund’s life cycle. His advice focuses on aligning structures with investor expectations and regulatory requirements, ensuring practical, market‑ready outcomes.
